DC Release Date: Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi’s romantic action film to hit big screens on July 31
DC, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles, is a romantic action film helmed by Arun Matheswaran.
Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi-starrer DC is an upcoming romantic action film, marking the filmmaker's debut in a lead role. Directed by Captain Miller fame Arun Matheswaran, the movie is now slated to release on July 31, 2026.

Taking to social media, the makers of DC wrote, “Devadas and Chandra are ready to light up the big screen!” The team also shared a poster featuring the ensemble cast wielding guns ahead of the film's release.

The makers had earlier unveiled the trailer, which opens with Arun Matheswaran's signature style, making use of black-and-white visuals and intense action. Much like his previous films, the director does not appear to be holding back on the action sequences, promising high-octane spectacle throughout.
From the trailer, it appears that the story primarily revolves around Devadas and Chandra, which explains the title, DC. Devadas is introduced as a gangster being pursued after an incident from his past, while Chandra is also on the run after becoming involved in a similar situation.
With nowhere else to go, Das reluctantly takes it upon himself to protect her, eventually falling in love with her.
As Lokesh plays Devadas and Wamiqa Gabbi appears as Chandra, the film is billed as a modern-day retelling of the classic novel Devadas, set against a gritty action backdrop. Apart from the lead pair, actress Sanjana AK portrays the character of Parvathi.
Written and directed by Arun Matheswaran, the film is backed by Sun Pictures. While Arun Ranjan has handled the additional screenplay, the dialogues have been written by Matheswaran along with Franklin Jacob.
Anirudh Ravichander has composed the songs and background score, while Mukesh G serves as the cinematographer and GK Prasanna handles the editing.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s work front
Following Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is set to helm the tentatively titled AA23 (LK07). The upcoming film will star Allu Arjun in the lead role and is expected to be a stylish action entertainer.
While further details about the project remain under wraps, the film will feature Anirudh Ravichander as the music composer, marking his first collaboration with Allu Arjun. Additionally, reports suggest that Pooja Hegde will play the female lead, although the makers have not officially confirmed the casting.
