Vijay Deverakonda's latest release Dear Comrade opened to a mixed response by the audience and critics alike. The film sees dashing star sharing the screen space with Rashmika Mandanna for the second time after Geetha Govindam. Despite getting a mixed response, Dear Comrade has managed to earn decent at the box office. Directed by Bharat Kamma, the romantic love story got a huge start of Rs 11 crore on its opening day from all the South Indian states. On the second day, Vijay starrer witnessed a drop but managed to earn Rs 3 crore approx in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

On its third day of the release, Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna starrer has earned Rs 3 crore or less in these two states. The film has maintained its steady run at few places in the country. Dear Comrade is not only doing good in India but is also earning well in the overseas market. Originally made in Telugu, the film has also released in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Meanwhile, filmmaker Karan Johar bought the Hindi rights of Dear Comrade. Vijay was recently in Mumbai for the same where he hosted a special screening of his latest release for Karan Johar. However, Vijay won't play the lead in the Hindi version. During an interview with Anupama Chopra, Deverakonda revealed why he doesn't want to be a part of his own film's remake version. He said, "I spend so much energy on doing a film that I can’t redo the entire emotion and beats."
