Dhanush is gearing up for the title announcement of his next film, tentatively titled D55. However, fresh buzz suggests that the actor may soon launch his son, Yatra, as a lead actor, with the project being bankrolled by Dhanush himself.

Is Dhanush set to launch his son Yatra?

According to Gulte, Dhanush’s son Yatra is set to play the lead role in a film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. GV Prakash is reportedly being considered as the music composer, while Dhanush is likely to produce the project himself.

The film is reportedly in pre-production, and the report suggests the look test has already been completed. The team is also reportedly planning a launch event soon. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the project so far, and the report remains speculative.

During the pre-release event of Kara, Dhanush was asked about his son's debut. Responding to the question, the actor said, “I came into acting at the age of 16 because of my circumstances. He is just 19 now, and I still see him as a kid. I don’t know what he will become yet; it’s too early to say.”

Dhanush’s work front

Dhanush was last seen in the lead role in Kara, an action thriller set in 1991. Directed by Vignesh Raja, the film follows Karasamy, a reformed thief who is forced by difficult circumstances to return to his old ways in an attempt to reclaim his mortgaged ancestral land and fulfill his father’s final wish.

Alongside Dhanush, the film stars Mamitha Baiju, KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunaas, and Jayaram in key roles. It received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and is streaming on Netflix following its theatrical run.

Looking ahead, Dhanush’s next release will be D55, which also stars Mammootty, Sreeleela, and Sai Pallavi in pivotal roles. The makers are set to unveil the film’s official title on June 18, 2026.

In addition to a project with Lubber Pandhu fame Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, Dhanush has also confirmed that he will be collaborating with director Mari Selvaraj on a grand period action venture. Reports further suggest that the actor is in talks to work with director Siva as well.
