Dharman: Is Rajinikanth’s upcoming film being adapted from The Good Doctor? Director Ashwath Marimuthu slams claim
Dharman is the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer movie with director Ashwath Marimuthu and co-produced by Kamal Haasan.
Dharman, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, is an upcoming action entertainer directed by Dragon fame Ashwath Marimuthu. As the film remains in production, a report claimed that it might be an adaptation of the drama series The Good Doctor. However, the director has dismissed the speculation.
Is Dharman an adaptation of drama series The Good Doctor?
A social media handle recently claimed that Raaj Kamal Films International had acquired the remake rights to the drama series The Good Doctor. Sharing the claim, the post also featured a poster of Dharman.
Responding to the speculation, director Ashwath Marimuthu dismissed it as "fake news." The social media handle later deleted the post containing the unverified claim.
Dharman is the Rajinikanth starrer that was previously referred to by its tentative title, Thalaivar 173. Alongside the superstar, the film features Simran Bagga, Yogi Babu, and Raashii Khanna in key roles.
Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music and background score, while Niketh Bommireddy serves as the cinematographer. Pradeep E. Ragav is handling the editing, and the Anbariv duo has been brought on board as the action choreographers.
Initially, the makers announced Sundar C as the film's director. However, the filmmaker later stepped away from the project, with Cibi Chakaravarthi coming on board as his replacement. Although Rajinikanth was interested in the project, it required extensive planning and additional time to execute. Ashwath Marimuthu eventually took over the directorial responsibilities.
As a result, the Dragon filmmaker also postponed his planned collaboration with Silambarasan TR.
Rajinikanth’s work front
Rajinikanth is next set to appear in Jailer 2. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action drama is expected to feature Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and others in key roles.
Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to reprise their cameo appearances from the first film. Additionally, Jailer 2 is rumored to feature a special appearance by Hrithik Roshan, although there has been no official confirmation so far.
Apart from Dharman, the superstar also has the tentatively titled KHxRK Reunion in the pipeline, which is expected to reunite him with Kamal Haasan.
