Dhootha 2: Naga Chaitanya debuts as producer for web series; Priya Bhavani Shankar, Parvathy Thiruvothu return

Dhootha, starring Naga Chaitanya in the lead role, premiered on the OTT platform Prime Video on December 1, 2023. Directed by Vikram Kumar, the mystery thriller series was later renewed for a second season and has now officially gone on floors, with the actor also stepping in as a producer.

Dhootha 2: Naga Chaitanya begins shoot for web series’ new season

Taking to his official social media handle, Naga Chaitanya shared a few snapshots from the pooja ceremony of Dhootha 2. Sharing the pictures, the Thandel actor wrote, “Auspicious beginnings as I step into the second chapter of Dhootha and take my first step as a producer. Onwards and upwards. Here’s to the magic ahead.”

With Priya Bhavani Shankar and Parvathy Thiruvothu reprising their roles from the previous season, the new season was formally launched with its first clap being given by Nagarjuna Akkineni.

Dhootha Season 2 is expected to continue the narrative introduced in the first season with greater intensity and suspense. Following the success of the debut instalment, the screenplay is said to explore the story in a more intricate and layered manner.

The series follows Sagar, a morally ambiguous yet successful journalist who begins receiving newspaper clippings that accurately predict tragic, fatal, and often supernatural events involving his loved ones.

As a series of events unfold, he comes under suspicion and is forced to investigate the source of these ominous predictions while confronting the demons of his own dark past. Alongside Naga Chaitanya, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Priya Bhavani Shankar, the first season also featured Srikanth Murali, Prachi Desai, Anish Kuruvilla, Tharun Bhascker, Rohini, Tanikella Bharani, and others in key roles.

The series’ music and background score were composed by Ishaan Chhabra, while the cinematography was handled by Mikolaj Sygula. Naveen Nooli served as the editor of the eight-episode thriller.

Naga Chaitanya’s next film

Naga Chaitanya will next be seen in the lead role in the mythological thriller Vrushakarma. Directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, the film features Chay as a rugged adventurer. Meenakshi Chaudhary stars as the female lead, while Sparsh Shrivastava is expected to play the primary antagonist.

Additionally, Jayaram and Zarina Wahab will be seen in pivotal roles. The film is currently expected to hit theatres in December 2026.
