Chiyaan Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram has been awaiting release for far too long, with several release dates having been announced in the past. Although all hurdles were expected to be cleared for a May 2026 release, it now appears that the film may take a little longer to hit the big screens.
Chiyaan Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram to release in June 2026?
According to Lets Cinema, Chiyaan Vikram-starrer Dhruva Natchathiram is now eyeing a June 2026 release. More than a decade after its initial announcement, the film was expected to be released in May 2026, based on early speculation. However, the makers are yet to make any official announcement regarding the release date.
While there has been no official confirmation, Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is also expected to release soon after being postponed due to delays in obtaining CBFC certification. Reports suggest that the film may finally hit theatres on May 24, 2026, along with a newly updated title card for the superstar. With Jana Nayagan’s release around the same time, it appears that Dhruva Natchathiram may have shifted its release plans to June 2026 instead.
More about Dhurva Natchathiram
Dhruva Natchathiram is a spy action thriller set in the same shared universe as Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha. The film follows a covert operative who leads a team of elite professionals called “The Basement,” aiming to discreetly take down terror organisations without being bound by the constraints of law enforcement.
With Chiyaan Vikram headlining the project, the film also features an ensemble cast including Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh, R. Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran, and Vinayakan in key roles.
Dhruva Natchathiram was initially announced with Suriya in 2013. However, a few months later, director Gautham Vasudev Menon shelved the project, citing creative differences with the actor. He later revived the film in 2015 and finalised Vikram as the lead.
Apart from Menon’s financial challenges, the film also faced multiple production hurdles over the years, including delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, all of which contributed to its prolonged release timeline. The movie is expected to be the first instalment of a two-part film series.
Chiyaan Vikram’s next film
After months of speculation surrounding his next project, Chiyaan Vikram recently unveiled the “first flame” teaser of his upcoming film, tentatively titled Chiyaan63. Directed by Iru Mugan fame Anand Shankar, the action drama is expected to feature Sarvam Maya’s Riya Shibu as the co-lead.
