Double Occupancy begins with an extraordinary turn of events. After 15 years of marriage, a couple is blessed with a child, but the newborn passes away shortly after birth. Following an unexpected miracle, the child comes back to life with a unique condition, switching genders every 12 hours, living as a girl from 6 am to 6 pm and as a boy from 6 pm to 6 am. The child is named Rajini, a name that suits both identities.
As Rajini grows up, the daytime persona pursues a career in research, while the nighttime persona works as a bartender. Although they share the same body, they lead entirely separate lives and communicate only through the messages and clues they leave behind for one another.
As Rajini navigates two separate romantic relationships, one during the day and another at night, the story unfolds through a series of humorous and chaotic situations. How Rajini manages these intertwined lives forms the rest of the narrative.
Cast and crew of Double Occupancy
Double Occupancy stars Ponniyin Selvan actor Santhosh and Reshma Venkatesh in the lead role, with both portraying the character Rajini. The film marks Santhosh's debut as a lead actor.
The supporting cast includes Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinoth Kishan, VTV Ganesh, Bagavathi Perumal, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Khushbu Sundar, Vichu Vishwanath, and several others in key roles.
Written and directed by Aswin Kandasamy, the film is produced by Khushbu Sundar, Anandita Sundar, AC Shanmugam, and ACS Arun Kumar under the banners of Avni Movies and Benzz Media. The music and background score are composed by Sam CS, while Santhakumar Chakravarthy serves as the cinematographer. The film is edited by Praveen Antony.
