Dragon: Prashanth Neel calls his action film with Jr NTR ‘far darker’ than his previous movies
Dragon is the upcoming action thriller film starring Jr NTR in the lead role, directed by Prashanth Neel.
Dragon, starring Jr NTR in the lead role, is slated to release in theaters on June 11, 2027. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film has been creating significant buzz online ever since its glimpse was unveiled on the actor’s birthday.
Now, it appears that the director himself has hinted that the movie will be “far darker” than anything he has written before.

As per details shared by Team Dragon, Prashanth Neel said, “This is probably one of the most difficult decisions NTR had to make as an actor. The character, Luger, is far darker than anything I’ve written before, and for a star of his stature to accept such a risky role is incredibly brave. It took us almost three years to arrive at the emotional reasoning behind why this character does what he does. When everything finally fell into place, he simply said, ‘Let’s do it,’ despite knowing how challenging and unexpected it would be for his audience.”
Earlier, in an interview, Prashanth Neel confirmed that Dragon would be the final addition to his lineup of hyper-realistic mass action films. The director also clarified that the movie has no crossover with Salaar or KGF.

Dragon is an upcoming action spectacle starring Jr NTR in the lead role. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film features the RRR actor as Luger, an operative involved in a substance-smuggling syndicate that is preparing to face a massive crackdown by authorities.
With Rukmini Vasanth playing the female lead, the movie also stars Anil Kapoor, Biju Menon, Ashutosh Rana, and Sidhant Gupta, among others, in key roles.
Apparently, the makers had initially planned to cast Tovino Thomas in a key role. However, the actor later stepped away from the project due to concerns about committing to a lengthy shooting schedule.
Initially, there were speculations that Sidhant Gupta had replaced Tovino Thomas in the film. However, Sidhant’s team clarified that he has not replaced the Minnal Murali actor and that his role is an entirely different one.
