Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal in the lead role, was recently released in theatres. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the drama thriller’s previous instalments were remade in Telugu and Kannada with Venkatesh Daggubati and Ravichandran, respectively.

However, it seems the film may not be remade in other languages this time, while the Hindi remake will have a different narrative as well.

Is Mohanlal’s Drishyam being remade into Telugu and Kannada?

Speaking with Club FM, Jeethu Joseph said, “Drishyam 3 will only be coming out in Hindi. Our climax isn’t working for people in other languages. As far as their heroes are concerned, our ending is a problem.”

The director added, “The Hindi filmmakers asked if they could make some changes. Once they buy the rights to our story, they can change it however they like. Yet, they still asked us out of courtesy. They said, ‘Jeethu, it’s difficult for us to do it this way here. We’ll have to take a different approach.’ They asked whether they could go ahead with those changes, and I told them to proceed. They have made a few changes.”

More about Drishyam 3

Drishyam 3 is set after the events of the first two instalments. With Georgekutty and his family once again returning to a sense of normalcy, the man still fears that someone may shatter the peace he had worked hard to create by exposing several buried secrets.

As the truth is once again threatened with exposure, Georgekutty grows increasingly paranoid, with several sinister forces closing in on him and pushing him into a corner. Whether he manages to evade them once again or is finally forced to answer for his secrets forms the crux of the narrative.

Apart from Mohanlal, the film features Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Kalabhavan Shajon, Siddique, Murali Gopy, Asha Sarath, and others in key roles.

Mohanlal’s work front

Mohanlal is currently working on his next film, Athimanoharam, directed by Tharun Moorthy. The film features Meera Jasmine as the co-lead and is likely to be released during Ayudha Pooja this year.

Looking ahead, the actor has films lined up with directors Vishnu Mohan, Priyadarshan, and Dileesh Pothan.
