Young actor Kalidas Jayaram won a million hearts not only in India but across the world with the most heartbreaking and pure content film, Thangam. Sudha Kongara’s Thangam, which is a part of Netflix's Tamil anthology film Paava Kadhaigal has set a benchmark for all the filmmakers and artists in the industry. Paava Kadhaigal got praises from all the quarters. In fact, all four short stories were beyond outstanding.

Kalidas Jayaram left no stone unturned to get into the skin of his character as a transgender person. Sharing what went behind prepping for the role, the actor exclusively revealed to us, "It is very difficult to explain in short how I prepped up for such character, but I did interact with a lot of trans people across the different fields. But two trans people who actually helped me were Ziva and Malini. They spoke to me about their problems in real life. Hearing those stories helped me to get into the skin of the character. Since Sathaar's story is set in the 70s, it made me realize what they have gone through at the time."

Suriya, Dulquer Salmaan and many others from the film industry watched and praised Thangam on Twitter. The charming actor is going to cherish these moments for life. He says, "across the social media everyone praised and these are the things you want as an actor and appreciation from the people who you look up to. Be it Suriya sir or Dulquer, I have seen their films in the theatres and have enjoyed it. Good reviews coming from them is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. In fact, for all the love showered on me by fans, my friends and close people across all the social media platforms. If you ask me, this is my memorable part of Thangam."

Kalidas' brilliant performance was also praised by Thalapathy Vijay who personally made a phone call to him. Sharing about the same, Kalidas revealed, "Meeting Vijay sir was a dream come true because he had watched Paava Kadhaigal and gave me a call...that time I asked him if I can meet and he really took the time and effort. He called me to his office, and I won't like to share what actually happened during the meet as it is very personal but it is very sweet for a superstar like him to take effort for an upcoming actor like me."

I feel proud of being a part of the South Indian industry

The impact of South Indian cinema is now at a global level. The content is not only being taken by Bollywood for remakes but across the world, regional cinema has set a benchmark. Asked what he feels about the same, Kalidas gives an honest reply. "I feel proud of being a part of the South Indian industry and it is not that Bollywood or any other industry is making content that is not great. More than anything, we give importance to the content and this is where the South Indian industry stands out. We have a lot of great actors, technicians and producers, I hope to work with all of them."

Sathaar's emotions in the film moved everyone and Kalidas is actually Thangam (precious) to the industry!
