Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has been grabbing eyeballs ever since it was announced. However, the movie is facing multiple roadblocks, allegedly pushing it way from its release date. Now, reports suggest that a young crew member allegedly lost his life while working on the sets of the actioner.
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 crew member dies on set
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 28-year-old crew member lost his life after being electrocuted during the filming of Rajinikanth’s upcoming actioner, Jailer 2, according to PTI
Reports indicate that the accident occurred on Thursday at a private film city near Chennai. According to reports, the victim was a native of Salem and an engineering graduate. He had moved to Chennai to pursue his cinematic dreams and was part of the art direction and electrical team.
He was reportedly working on a large-scale house set when he accidentally came into contact with a live wire. The incident led to the day's shoot being cancelled.
Earlier, clips of Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 were unlawfully shared online. After the leak, the makers released a statement, warning the public against resharing the video clips. Now, industry buzz suggests that the film’s release date has been postponed. Earlier, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer was scheduled to release on June 12, 2026. But now, it has been reportedly pushed to September 4, 2026.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film sees Rajinikanth reprising his iconic role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian IPS. The film also boasts an incredible pan-Indian cast including S. J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Vidya Balan.
Biggies like Mithun Chakraborty, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vinayakan, and Vijay Sethupathi are expected to mark their cameo appearances. Anirudh Ravichander is back to provide the background score.
