Jailer 2 Release Date: Rajinikanth starrer to hit big screens on October 15, 2026; Makers unveil fiery promo
Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role is the upcoming sequel film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
Rajinikanth starrer Jailer 2 is one of the most highly anticipated films set to release in theaters this year. The makers have now officially confirmed that the film will hit the big screens on October 15, 2026, coinciding with Dussehra.
Jailer 2 Release Date
In a 55-second promo, the makers begin with Vinayakan’s final dialogue from Jailer, hinting that his actions were part of a much larger network. Building on the events of the first film, Jailer 2 appears set to see Tiger Muthuvel Pandian take on even greater challenges alongside a massive ensemble cast.

In blink-and-miss moments, the glimpse features actors such as Shiva Rajkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and possibly Vidya Balan. Additionally, Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, and Yogi Babu are set to reprise their roles from the first installment.
With Anirudh Ravichander composing the film's music and background score, the promo features a fiery remix of the Jailer theme, incorporating new elements while staying true to the film's action-packed tone.
Apart from the core cast, actors such as Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, and Vijay Sethupathi are also expected to make cameo appearances. Interestingly, Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara is also reportedly eyeing a Dussehra 2026 release, raising the possibility of a box office clash if both films arrive in theaters during the same festive window.
Rajinikanth’s work front
Following Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is set to appear in Dharman. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the film is billed as an action thriller, with the superstar reportedly playing the role of a doctor. Co-produced by Kamal Haasan under the banner of Raaj Kamal Films International, the project also stars Simran, Raashii Khanna, and Yogi Babu in prominent roles.
While the makers have yet to announce an official release date, reports suggest that the film is targeting a Summer 2027 theatrical release.
Looking ahead, Rajinikanth is also expected to reunite with director Nelson Dilipkumar for the tentatively titled KHxRK Reunion. The upcoming film is reportedly planned as an action entertainer, with Kamal Haasan expected to play the co-lead, marking the two stalwarts' reunion after several years.
Anirudh Ravichander is set to compose the film's music and background score, and the makers have already unveiled a promotional glimpse for the project.
