Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, is the superstar’s farewell film, marking his departure from Tamil cinema. After months of anticipation, the film is finally making its way to theatres, with the makers officially confirming that it has been censored with an 'A' rating.

Taking to social media, the makers of Jana Nayagan officially confirmed that the film has received an 'A' rating from the censor board, clearing the way for its theatrical release.

In the official post, the team wrote, “See you soon in theatres, nanba & nanbis. Jana Nayagan Censored A.”

Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan was initially announced for a theatrical release during Pongal this year. However, the film did not make it to the big screens as scheduled because the censorship process had not been completed.

Now, with the final certification complete, the movie is all set for its theatrical release. While the makers are yet to announce the official release date, the film's UK distributors have stated that Jana Nayagan will hit the big screens on July 24, 2026. However, an official confirmation regarding its India release is still awaited.

Jana Nayagan follows the story of Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, a former official and convict who adopts a young girl named Viji and is determined to raise her as a strong and independent woman. He even encourages her to join the military despite her fear of violence.

As the story unfolds, a major threat looms over India, one that could potentially lead to widespread destruction. As Vetri Kondan becomes entangled in the crisis, a personal vendetta emerges, compelling him to take matters into his own hands and uncover the system responsible for setting the events in motion.

Apart from Thalapathy Vijay, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, and Sunil in key roles. Additionally, directors Atlee, Nelson Dilipkumar, and Lokesh Kanagaraj are expected to make cameo appearances.

The film's music and background score have been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while Sathyan Sooryan handled the cinematography and Pradeep E. Ragav oversaw the editing.

Ahead of its theatrical release, the film was leaked online, generating significant buzz among audiences.
