Suriya and Mohanlal starrer Kaappaan, which is being produced under the banner of Gopuram Films, has been in the news since its inception. The action-thriller hit the headlines sometime back after a plagiarism case was filed against the film by director John Charles. John Charles accused Kaappaan director KV Anand of plagiarism. He alleged in his petition that how he had narrated the script of Saravedi to KV Anand in January 2017 but got no response from the director.

However, later he found the similarities between the scripts after Kaappaan trailer was out. Now according to the latest update about the case, the case was heard at the Madras High Court on September 12 and the case has been dismissed, citing lack of evidence. Well, it’s a relief for the makers of Kaappaan as the film will release hassle-free on September 20th. The Telugu version of the film has been titled Bandobast, which is also releasing on the same day.

Kaappaan also has Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Irani and Poorna in pivotal roles. The first schedule of the film kick-started in London last year and later, moved on to places like New York, Brazil, New Delhi and Hyderabad.  Harris Jayaraj has composed the music for this flick with Abhinandan Ramanujam roped in as the cinematographer.
