Karthi starrer spy actioner Sardar 2 eyeing to release in theaters on September 11, 2026? Here’s what we know
Sardar 2 is the upcoming sequel to the spy actioner Sardar, starring Karthi, which was released in 2022.
Karthi starrer Sardar 2 has been in production for quite some time, with its release date yet to be officially announced. However, it now appears that the Siruthai actor could be heading to the big screen soon with the sequel to the action entertainer.
Is Karthi starrer Sardar 2 releasing on September 11, 2026?
According to Valai Pechu, the makers of Sardar 2 are currently in the final stages of negotiations for the film's OTT rights. The report further suggests that the team has already finalized its satellite rights and is eyeing a theatrical release on September 11, 2026. However, the makers have not made any official announcement regarding the release date so far.
Sardar 2 is the sequel to the 2022 action thriller Sardar, which starred Karthi in the lead role. Directed by P.S. Mithran, the film is expected to follow a new mission undertaken by Chandra Bose, also known as Agent Sardar.
As Karthi reprises his dual roles, the film will also see Rajisha Vijayan return as Indhrani. Additionally, Malavika Mohanan, S.J. Suryah, Ashika Ranganath, and several others play key roles.
With Sam CS composing the music, George C. Williams handling cinematography, and Vijay Velukutty overseeing the editing, the film is shaping up to be a major cinematic spectacle.
Karthi’s work front
Karthi was last seen in the lead role in Vaa Vaathiyaar. Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, the film follows an officer who is influenced by his grandfather to embrace traits inspired by the iconic on-screen characters portrayed by MG Ramachandran.
As a result, he develops an alter ego that stands up against wrongdoing while adopting the persona of an MGR-inspired character. Apart from the Thozha actor, the film also stars Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, and Rajkiran in key roles. The movie is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
Apart from Sardar 2, Karthi is also part of the period action film Marshal. Set in the 1960s, the movie is being mounted on a grand scale with meticulous attention to detail, featuring the actor in a rugged new look. Kalyani Priyadarshan plays the female lead, while Aadhi Pinisetty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Jayaram are also part of the cast.
Moreover, the actor recently announced his next project, tentatively titled Karthi30. Directed by Kalyan Shankar, the film will feature Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead.
