Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles, was slated to release on May 14, 2026. Directed by RJ Balaji, the movie was expected to begin screening from 9 AM onwards. However, with no official update regarding the screening timings yet, the film now appears likely to face another postponement.

Karuppu Release: Suriya and Trisha Krishnan’s actioner to release on May 15, 2026?

In a recent update shared on social media, PVR Cinemas posted details regarding the film’s screenings. According to the exhibitors, Karuppu is expected to release across screens in their chain on May 15, 2026. However, the makers are yet to issue an official confirmation regarding the revised release date.


Reports suggest that the producers of Karuppu have encountered financial issues related to their financiers. The makers are reportedly in discussions to resolve the matter and are actively working toward finalizing the film’s release at the earliest.

Karuppu was initially planned for a Diwali 2025 release but was delayed due to pending post-production work. After months of speculation, the movie was eventually locked for a May 2026 release. However, it now appears that fans may have to wait a little longer to watch the film on the big screens.

In a recent video shared on social media, director RJ Balaji became emotional while expressing hope that the film would be released soon.

Karuppu revolves around underprivileged people fighting for their rights while placing their faith in the legal system. However, when the very system meant to protect them becomes the source of their suffering, the deity Karuppu Swamy takes human form to help them and eliminate injustice from society. The film explores how he fulfills his mission while protecting those in need.

Apart from Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, the movie also stars RJ Balaji, Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, and Supreeth Reddy in key roles.

Suriya’s upcoming films

Following Karuppu, Suriya will next be seen in Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. The film stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead and is reportedly eyeing an Independence Day 2026 release.

Additionally, the Retro actor also has another project tentatively titled Suriya47 in his upcoming lineup.
