Karuppu Trailer: Suriya unleashes his fury as Karuppusamy, embarking on a tale to protect the oppressed

Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles, is slated for release on May 14, 2026. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film is touted to be a fantasy action drama, with the makers unveiling its trailer just days ahead of release.
Suriya’s Karuppu Trailer
In the 2-minute-and-45-second-long trailer, Karuppu enters a world where corrupt lawyers oppress the underprivileged. When the question arises as to who will protect them, Karuppusamy, the deity known for delivering justice, takes human form to ensure safety and prosperity for his people.
Although the trailer features an underwhelming edit at certain points, the momentum is not lost, and it manages to pack in every aspect of the film while also offering some fan service. While Suriya plays the role of Karuppu, Trisha Krishnan (dubbed by Chinmayi) takes on the co-lead role. Director RJ Balaji appears as Baby Kannan, the film’s primary antagonist.
Apart from the main cast, the movie also features Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, and others in key roles. With Sai Abhyankkar handling the soundtrack and background score, the film appears set to deliver an engaging tone, complemented by stunning visuals from cinematographer GK Vishnu.
Suriya’s work front
Following Karuppu, Suriya will next be seen in Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. The film is said to be an emotionally driven romantic drama featuring Mamitha Baiju as the female lead and Raveena Tandon in a pivotal role. It was initially slated to hit theatres in July 2026, but recent reports suggest that the release may be pushed to the Independence Day week. However, the makers are yet to finalize a date.
The actor has also begun work on a cop action-comedy tentatively titled Suriya47. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film stars Nazriya Nazim as the female lead, with Naslen playing a key role. Reports indicate that a leading Tamil star may make a cameo appearance in the movie, potentially paving the way for a second instalment, although no official confirmation has been made.
