Korean Kanakaraju, starring Varun Tej Konidela in the lead role, is an upcoming Indo-Korean action-comedy film. Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, the film is expected to hit the big screens in mid-2026.
Korean Kanakaraju Release Date
According to Aakashavaani, the makers of Korean Kanakaraju are eyeing an August 7, 2026, release ahead of Independence Day. However, the official release date has not yet been announced by the team.
Korean Kanakaraju is touted to be a horror-comedy film that blends the cultural elements of India and Korea. Earlier, the team unveiled the title teaser, which appeared to feature Varun's character being possessed by a spirit.
Moreover, the team also released the first single, titled Kamsahamnida. The cheerful romantic track blends Korean phrases with a melodic, upbeat sound and features vocals by Sid Sriram, music composed by Thaman S, and lyrics penned by Kasarla Shyam.
The horror-comedy film stars Ritika Nayak as the female lead, with Satya playing a key role.
Varun Tej Konidela’s work front
Varun Tej Konidela was previously seen in the lead role in Matka. Directed by Karuna Kumar, the period action drama is set between 1934 and 1988 in Visakhapatnam and is based on real-life incidents.
The movie follows the life of Vasu, a young man who is drawn into the matka business and becomes entangled in a complex world of deceit and betrayal. Vasu eventually rises to become a gangster but is betrayed by his close aides. How he regains his lost position and takes down his enemies forms the crux of the story.
Apart from Varun, the film also featured Meenakshi Chaudhary, Nora Fatehi, Naveen Chandra, Saloni Aswani, and Jisshu Sengupta in key roles. The film was panned by critics and failed at the box office.
After Korean Kanakaraju, Varun Tej Konidela will play the lead role in Bhari. The glimpse features Varun as a youngster in a village setting, with the film likely revolving around the game of volleyball.
Directed by Yadhu Vamsee, the movie is expected to be a pan-Indian release, with Anudeep Dev handling the music and background score. Danush Bhaskar serves as the cinematographer, while Anwar Ali is the editor.
