Laabam director SP Jananathan found unconscious at home; Is under observation at a hospital in Chennai

Director SP Jananathan, who is known for his films like Iyarkai and Peranmai, is admitted to a hospital in Chennai. SP Jananathan was found unconscious at his home yesterday and immediately, he was rushed to the hospital by his assistants in the evening. Reportedly, his health is critical and is under observation in the Intensive Care Unit. More information on the director's health condition is awaited by hospital officials. According to reports, SP Jananathan was working on his upcoming film Laabam. He was busy on the film's edit while he visited home. However, as he didn't return to the editing studio, his team rushed to check on him. 

His first film as director was Iyarkai that released in 2003 and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil in 2004. Prior to becoming a director, he worked as an assistant director for films like B. Lenin, Bharathan, Vincent Selva and Keyar. SP Jananathan has also served as the treasurer of the Tamil Film Directors’ Union. His upcoming film Laabam starring Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan is one of the much-awaited films that the audience is eagerly looking forward to.

It also stars Jagapathi Babu, Sai Dhanshika and Kalaiyarasan in pivotal roles. Ramji is onboard as a cinematographer, while D. Imman is the music composer. After Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai in 2015,  SP Jananathan is making a comeback into director and moviegoers are excited to know what's in store for them.
