The trailer of late Television actress VJ Chitra’s debut film Calls was released by the makers on January 29. It has been two weeks since the trailer’s release and it already touched 1.5 million views on the video streaming application YouTube. Stills from the trailer are making the rounds on social media. The film is directed by J Sabarish and it is touted to be a woman centric film. The film will have Chitra playing the role of a woman who gets tangled in a series of murders.

Talking about the film, director told The Times Of India, “It was announced It delves into the pressures she faces at work, like attending to irate callers, meeting insane targets, and harassment from her team leader. A series of murders happen and how she is connected to them will be narrated in a non-linear fashion”. It is expected that the makers will announce the release date soon.

In December last year, TV actress and VJ Chitra died by suicide and it shook the state of Tamil Nadu. She is one of the most loved and popular actresses of the state. Following the news, it was found that she was immensely stressed by her husband and now he is under judicial custody. Chennai Police arrested her husband Hemanth for abetting suicide and he was produced at the Poonamalle High Court in December last year. After being interrogated for six days, Hemanth was booked under Section 306 of IPC (Indian Penal Code).
