From Lucifer to Bigil, 5 movies down South which we feel should be remade in Bollywood

As much as we love Bollywood, the craze for South movies is something that movie lovers swear by in our country. Be it the action scenes or the peppy dance numbers, one cannot just get over them and multiple instances prove the same. It was only sometime back when the entire country grooved to the beats of Butta Bomma and Rowdy Baby. Moreover, a larger contingent of cinema-goers is eagerly waiting for the release of big-budget movies like KGF Chapter 2 and Acharya.

One can say that as a result of this, there has been an influx of South remakes in Hindi. Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran's Drishyam, and the upcoming sports drama Jersey are some of the best examples to prove the same. There is no doubt that the Bollywood filmmakers will surely turn to the mass market down in the South for a few more remakes which will attract huge crowds. With this in mind, we list down 5 movies from the South that we think should be remade in Bollywood.

Lucifer (2019)

The Malayalam action-drama featured Mohanlal in the lead role and it also marked the directorial debut of Prithviraj Sukumaran. With a stellar star cast including Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and others, the movie proved to be a box office hit. As we know, a Telugu remake of the same titled Acharya is already in process, we feel it tops the list when it comes to Bollywood remakes in the future!

Bigil (2019)

With one sports drama (Jersey) being already remade in Hindi, we feel there is no harm in making a Hindi adaptation of another one and that will be the 2019 Tamil drama Bigil featuring Thalapathy Vijay in dual roles. The Atlee directorial won hearts in no time and was deemed a hit owing to its gripping storyline and stellar star cast.

Asuran (2019)

Although there was a strong buzz that Shah Rukh Khan will be a part of the Hindi remake of the period action drama, there is no word from any Hindi filmmaker yet. So, we can add that to our wishlist with the hope that it gets remade in Hindi soon! The Dhanush and Manju Warrier starrer was a huge hit upon its release in the theatres.

Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020)

The Telugu action-comedy features Mahesh Babu and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the movie was a commercial hit. We feel that the commercial entertainer will provide a good dose of entertainment to the Hindi audience with its gut-wrenching action sequences, light-hearted comedy, and interesting storyline.

Petta (2019)

Speaking of Hindi remakes, we cannot skip Rajinikanth's name in this regard. The superstar featured in the Tamil action-drama Petta in 2019 which was directed by AR Murugadoss. It also featured Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and others in the lead roles. We feel that the Karthik Subbaraj directorial is a perfect fit to be remade in Hindi.
