Magudam: Vishal officially announces directorial debut with upcoming actioner; Teaser out on June 10
Vishal starrer Magudam is the upcoming action drama, which was initially announced to have Ravi Arasu as the director before being replaced by the actor.
Magudam, starring Vishal in the lead role, was initially announced with director Ravi Arasu at the helm. However, after reports suggested creative differences between the actor and the filmmaker, it was speculated that Vishal had taken over the project as director.
Now, the actor has officially confirmed the same while also announcing the teaser release date.
Magudam: Vishal announces debut directorial with teaser date
Taking to his social media handle, Vishal shared that his long-cherished dream has finally come to fruition. The actor wrote, “And finally, my official directorial debut. Nurtured this dream for more than 30 years to come true. Super excited to finally unveil what we’ve been working on!! Will be presenting the teaser of Magudam/Makutam on June 10. God bless.”

Before Magudam, Vishal had also taken on directorial responsibilities for his sequel project Thupparivalan 2. Following a fallout with director Mysskin, the actor decided to helm the film himself. However, further updates on the project are still awaited.
Magudam is expected to be a gangster action drama, with Vishal set to appear in multiple avatars. The film features Vettaiyan fame Dushara Vijayan as the female lead, while the music and background score are being composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
The project was initially announced with Ravi Arasu as the director. However, reports suggest that creative differences between the filmmaker and the lead actor led to Ravi Arasu's exit from the project, following which Vishal stepped in as director and is now also credited with the screenplay.
Vishal’s work front
Vishal was last seen in the lead role in the action-comedy film Madha Gaja Raja. Directed by Sundar C, the movie was originally shot in 2012, but its release was delayed until 2025 due to various reasons.
The film also starred Santhanam, Anjali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sonu Sood, Manivannan, Subbaraju, and others in key roles. Despite the prolonged delay, the movie emerged as a box-office success.
Apart from Magudam, Vishal has also announced his next project, titled Purushan. Directed by Sundar C, the film revolves around a man leading a double life while presenting himself as a meek husband to his wife, played by Tamannaah Bhatia.
