Mollywood Times, starring Naslen in the lead role, was released in theatres on June 5, 2026. Directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak, the dark comedy film appears to have locked horns with the CBFC over the alleged use of muted words during its theatrical screenings. Mollywood Times faces heat from CBFC for alleged use of muted words
According to Manorama News, the makers of the film muted the profanity when they submitted it for certification, only to reportedly restore the words for its theatrical release. The Censor Board is now said to be preparing to take action against the makers over the issue.
Mollywood Times tells the story of a youngster who dreams of becoming the best horror filmmaker in Malayalam cinema after drawing inspiration from critically acclaimed directors such as M. Night Shyamalan. The film explores themes of unchecked ambition, the sacrifices required to succeed on one's own terms, and the cutthroat nature of show business, serving as a self-described "hate letter" to Malayalam cinema.
Apart from Naslen, the film stars Sharaf U Dheen and Vineeth Sreenivasan in co-lead roles. Actors Sangeeth Prathap, Roshan Shanavas, Gopika Ramesh, Prasanth Alexander, Althaf Salim, Jagadish, Balachandran Chullikkad, and several others play key roles in the movie. Additionally, Aarsha Chandini Baiju and Basil Joseph make cameo appearances.
The movie has generally received positive word of mouth from cinephiles and is being touted as the second instalment in the director's Success Trilogy, following Mukundan Unni Associates.
Naslen’s work front
Naslen is currently working on Suriya's next film, tentatively titled Suriya47. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the action-comedy entertainer is said to feature the Karuppu actor as an eccentric officer, with Nazriya Nazim Fahadh playing the female lead. With Sushin Shyam composing the music, the film is expected to wrap up production by the end of June 2026.
Looking ahead, Naslen has completed filming for the sequel Bachelor Party D’eux and is also part of Asif Ali's Tiki Taka. Moreover, the actor has been confirmed as a member of the cast of the Mammootty-starrer Mattancherry Mafia, directed by Khalidh Rahman.
