With several of Thalapathy Vijay's classic cinematic ventures actively screening across television networks and returning to big screens, another massive blockbuster is officially making its way back to the silver screen. Not Jana Nayagan, Vijay's landmark 2017 action entertainer Mersal, helmed by director Atlee and bankrolled by Thenandal Pictures, is locked to re-release in theaters to mark the special occasion of the superstar's upcoming birthday on June 22.

Mersal to re-release for Vijay's birthday

Since Thalapathy Vijay's birthday falls on a Monday, Mersal will hit the big screen a few days early on June 19, transforming the celebration into a spectacular weekend treat for his core fanbase and general cinema-goers. According to NDTV, the blockbuster is scheduled to take over approximately 100 theater screens across key strategic territories, including Chennai, Chengalpet, Kanchipuram, and the Tiruvallur district. It highlights the enduring box-office pull of the lead actor even years after the film's initial theatrical run.
