Odiyan: Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier announce folklore horror; Karan Johar 'steps into Malayalam cinema'
Odiyan, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Manju Warrier, will mark the debut of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in Malayalam cinema, with Bramayugam director Rahul Sadasivan helming it.
Prithviraj Sukumaran and Manju Warrier are all set to star together in a folklore horror film titled Odiyan. Directed by Dies Irae fame Rahul Sadasivan, the movie will be bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, marking their debut venture in Malayalam cinema.

Taking to his official social media handle, Karan Johar wrote, “We at Dharma Productions are taking our first step into the world of Malayalam cinema, and I am proud to announce that we have the best partners to do it with. Prithviraj, we’ve come such a long way with multiple collaborations behind us and hopefully many more ahead of us too.”
He added, “It gives us great pride to announce our film, Odiyan, directed by the supremely talented Rahul Sadasivan. His knack for eerie storytelling rooted in folklore is a rare feat in this age of cinema. Bringing this to life on screen are the exceptional Manju Warrier and, of course, our favourite Prithviraj himself. Coming soon!”

While more details about the film are yet to be revealed, the makers have added the tagline “The Age of Illusion” to the project. Earlier, Bramayugam carried the tagline The Age of Madness. Interestingly, both films share the same font style in their posters, with Aesthetic Kunjamma once again serving as the design partner.
While Bramayugam explored the folklore legend of Kuttichathan, the Prithviraj starrer will follow the legend of the Odiyans, a clan of people believed to have been shapeshifters. Said to be capable of frightening people to their demise, the Odiyans were believed to transform into any form they desired, most popularly animals such as bulls, buffaloes, felids, and jackals, becoming half-man and half-beast.
Like Kuttichathan, these beings were widely popularized through oral storytelling. While more details about the film remain under wraps, Odiyan appears set to explore an eerie, terror-filled narrative.
Prithviraj Sukumaran and Manju Warrier’s work front
Prithviraj Sukumaran is next set to hit the big screens with the movie I, Nobody. The heist action thriller will feature Parvathy Thiruvothu as the co-lead and is likely to release on July 2 or July 9, 2026.
Looking ahead, the actor has the action entertainer Khalifa in his lineup, releasing on August 20, 2026, coinciding with Onam this year. Moreover, he is also playing a key role in Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Varanasi.
On the other hand, Manju Warrier will next appear alongside Kunchacko Boban in the movie Nere Chovva. She also has the film Happiloop in her lineup.
