Actor Ram Charan is gearing up for the highly anticipated sports-action drama Peddi. While chatting to director Buchi Babu Sana, he spilled the beans on the painful journey of switching body types for the film.
Ram Charan on his painful transformation for Peddi
Ram Charan gave his sweat and blood to look his best for his upcoming film Peddi. Recently, he went on a promotional drive through the streets of Hyderabad with director Buchi Babu Sana. While chatting with the filmmaker, the global star spoke about the body transformation that took a toll on him.
The Game Changer actor jokingly told the director that he put him through the ‘torture’ to achieve a cricketer's physique and then a wrestler's physique. “They are both extremely different. A cricketer is lean, like Tilak Varma or Hardik Pandya. You wanted that kind of body. Then, after a few days, he needed a bulkier body to play kabaddi. Then you told me to get a wrestler's body.”
Director Buchi Babu Sana admitted he was initially terrified to even ask the superstar for such drastic changes. However, the actor divulged that he genuinely enjoyed the process. “They say you don’t feel the fatigue when you do the work you love. That is exactly how I felt,” he expressed, adding that now that the shoot is over, pains are surfacing from everywhere.
The physical aftermath has begun affecting his daily life, especially the time he spends with his daughter, Klin Kaara. Elaborating further, he expressed, “Even lifting my daughter hurts this hand. I need to get an X-ray. Constant grabbing during wrestling caused tremors. It did something to this hand.”
The actor reflected on how Peddi was a spiritual yet physically demanding experience. Comparing it to his past on-set accidents, Ram recalled breaking his leg during RRR. Something happened during Rangasthalam. He even cut his lip during the shoot of Game Changer. “But for Peddi, not a single day of shooting was stopped. It is truly God’s grace,” he concluded.
Led by Ram Charan, Peddi also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Boman Irani, Ravi Kishan, and Divyenndu in pivotal roles. It is slated for a grand theatrical release on June 4, 2026.
