Actress Priyamani has created a niche for herself down south and is one of the talented actresses of the industry. Reportedly, after winning the National Award, Priyamani has hiked her remuneration. The actress recently in an interview spoke about the pay disparity between the male and female actors of the film industry. The actress spoke her mind out about how even if the film does well at the box office,  it really doesn’t help (monetarily) the heroine as much as it does for the hero.

Priyamani also spoke about how the South actresses are finally getting their due and asking for what they are worth. Speaking about Anushka Shetty, Nayanthara and Samantha Akkineni getting their dues, Priyamani said, "Actors like Anushka Shetty, Nayanthara, Samantha Akkineni are great examples to look up to. Talking about the MeToo Movement, Priyamani said that not everyone has been very vocal on the subject so far. “It’s beautiful and stunning to sit back and take note of how our girls are bold and unabashedly honest about their journeys. On the one hand I think it’s commendable because in all honesty, MeToo is not restricted to the film industry or showbiz. While I am not vouching for it, all I’m trying to say is that the occurrence could literally be around us – at homes, in universities, software offices, MNCs, call centres and everywhere else. People need to be sensitised to the issue, but I would also urge everyone not to be gullible while listening to stories. The impact has been so powerful that men don’t really flirt anymore,” she quips.
