Rakul Preet Singh is one of the actresses in the industry who have managed to make it big in the industry without any godfather. It’s been a decade since she ventured into showbiz and the diva has certainly come a long way in her career. In fact, Rakul had proved her mettle in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi film industry. And while it was quite a satisfactory journey for Rakul with no regrets, the Marjaavaan actress has revealed that there was a time that she faced body shaming in the industry.

In her exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Rakul revealed that it happened at the beginning of her career in the glamour world. Although she refused to take any names, the Aiyaary star stated that she was told that she had a generic face. “Somebody told me ‘You are very good, you are really nice but the problem with you is that you have a generic face’,” Rakul recalled. However, the young diva didn’t let the negative comments affect her in any way. Instead, she emphasised that it is okay for her if somebody doesn’t like her, but what mattered was how she felt about herself.

"Everything stems from your belief in yourself. I have always believed that. You can’t expect everyone to like me. It’s okay if someone doesn’t like me, but I have to love myself. When you love yourself, when you accept yourself, half of the battle is won,” Rakul was quoted saying.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rakul Preet, who was last seen in Sidharth Malhotra’s Marjaavaan, has her hands full with interesting projects. She is working on Kamal Haasan’s much talked about movie Indian 2. Besides, she as also been roped in for Kaashvie Nair’s yet to be titled directorial opposite Arjun Kapoor. The movie will mark her first collaboration with the Panipat actor and the duo are expected to make an adorable on-screen pair.
