Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s newly released action-drama, Maa Inti Bangaaram, has taken the box office by storm. Helmed by BV Nandini Reddy, the project has also turned out to be deeply personal for Samantha, who not only leads the film but also produced it alongside her husband, acclaimed filmmaker Raj Nidimoru. But despite her being a successful heroine, no one came to support her movie. Read on!

Raj Nidimoru on producers backing out of Maa Inti Bangaaram

Ever since Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Maa Inti Bangaaram was announced, it has grabbed a lot of eyeballs. Several rumors about producers not backing the female-led film also circulated. Now, sharing his two cents on the matter, co-writer and producer Raj Nidimoru revealed the harsh realities they faced while getting the film off the ground.

He admitted to News18 that they didn’t have any backers. “In fact, people had backed out of our film. It’s self-funded in a way because no one wanted to take a risk. But that’s what I had to battle all my career – making movies that aren’t usually backed by others. It’s hard to find people to do these kinds of films,” the director-producer recalled.

He was quick to add that the film was made on a very tight budget. Sharing that big budget scares them, he opined, “With an independent filmmaker and self-financing producer, I always believe in the budget being tight. I don’t think we’ve ever made a film where the budget doesn’t make sense. Big budgets scare us.”

At first, it felt like a setback to self-produce the movie. But looking at the business and the love the film is getting, the team has no regrets. In fact, they’re happy that it has shattered the myth that “female-led films don’t have an opening and that they only start working after a few days with word-of-mouth and become a sleeper hit.” Watching it shatter records, he promised to expand the genre with his next outing.

The massive success of Maa Inti Bangaaram has kicked off a golden phase for Samantha Ruth Prabhu. At a recent success meet for the film in Hyderabad, the actress sent fans into a frenzy by officially confirming her pregnancy, sharing that she will be taking a well-deserved maternity break to welcome her first child with Raj later this year.
