With the film’s shoot now underway, a report by Lets Cinema suggests that Seyon is aiming for a theatrical release during Pongal 2027. Additionally, online reports indicate that Thalaivar173, starring Rajinikanth and co-produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, may shift its release from Pongal 2027 to the summer of 2027 instead.
Earlier, the makers of Seyon unveiled a glimpse from the film that showcased SK in a rustic avatar, with the story set in a village in Madurai. The look and presentation sparked comparisons to Virumaandi, one of Kamal Haasan’s iconic films.
Speaking to multiple media outlets after the official launch of Seyon, Sivakarthikeyan said, “Seyon begins today. It’ll turn out superbly. Our team is ready to work towards it. It’s been a while since I came to our place, Madurai, for a shoot. Madurai has a certain power, and we’ll showcase that same power in the film as well. We are not trying to make a film like Virumaandi, but we will try to recreate the elements that people loved in that film.”
With SK headlining the project, Seyon has officially roped in Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead, marking her second Tamil film after Dulquer Salmaan’s Kaantha.
Sivakarthikeyan’s work front
Sivakarthikeyan was last seen in the lead role in Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara. Featuring Ravi Mohan as the main antagonist, the action drama also starred Sreeleela and Atharvaa Murali in key roles. Following an underwhelming box office run and mixed reviews, the film is now available for streaming on ZEE5.
Looking ahead, SK is expected to collaborate with Ramkumar Balakrishnan, best known for Parking, on a new project that is rumored to feature Dileep in a key role. Additionally, the Amaran star also has a project lined up with director Venkat Prabhu.
