Seyon: Sivakarthikeyan wraps up first schedule for upcoming actioner with director Sivakumar Murugesan

Seyon, starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, is currently in production, with the makers eyeing a possible Pongal 2027 release. Now, the team has wrapped up the film's first shooting schedule featuring the actor.

Taking to social media, the makers announced the completion of the first schedule of filming. Sharing the update, the team wrote, "From passion to progress. Seyon First Schedule Wrapped."

The film went on floors on May 18, 2026. According to a report by Lets Cinema, Seyon is targeting a theatrical release during Pongal 2027. Additionally, online reports suggest that Thalaivar173, starring Rajinikanth and co-produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, may shift its release from Pongal 2027 to the summer of 2027 instead.
Earlier, the makers unveiled a glimpse from the film, showcasing Sivakarthikeyan in a rustic avatar, with the story set in a village near Madurai. The look and presentation sparked comparisons to Virumaandi, one of Kamal Haasan's iconic films.
With Sivakarthikeyan headlining the project, Seyon makers have officially roped in Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead, marking her second Tamil film after Dulquer Salmaan's Kaantha.
Sivakarthikeyan’s work front
Sivakarthikeyan was last seen in the lead role in Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara. Featuring Ravi Mohan as the primary antagonist, the action drama also starred Sreeleela and Atharvaa Murali in key roles. The film is now available for streaming on ZEE5.
Looking ahead, SK is expected to collaborate with Ramkumar Balakrishnan, best known for Parking, on a new project that is rumored to feature Dileep in a key role.
Additionally, the Amaran star was also set to collaborate with director Venkat Prabhu on a sci-fi project. However, there have been no recent updates regarding the film, with rumors suggesting that the project may now be headlined by Dhanush after he completes his current commitments. However, the makers have yet to make an official announcement.
