Sing Geetham: Not June 11, Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao and Nag Ashwin’s musical fantasy postponed

Veteran filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin are all set to hit theaters with Sing Geetham. Directed by the 94-year-old filmmaker, the musical fantasy was initially scheduled for release on June 11, 2026. However, it now appears that the makers have decided to push the release by a day.

In a new update shared on social media, the makers announced that Sing Geetham has been postponed by a day. The film will now release in theaters on June 12, 2026, instead of June 11. The team also confirmed that the movie has been certified U by the CBFC.

Sing Geetham follows a young man named Prathap, who travels to a mysterious and isolated village called Kubera Puram in search of better opportunities. Once there, he is drawn into strange and uncontrollable events stemming from a peculiar village curse that forces everyone to sing rather than speak. This conflict between progress and preservation challenges his beliefs, forcing him to choose between modern reality and a magical musical realm.

Much like the director’s previous works, Sing Geetham adopts an experimental approach, with every character delivering their dialogues through song, creating a unique musical narrative.

Directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and backed by Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin, the musical fantasy stars debutant Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi in key roles. The film’s songs and background score have been composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

Over the years, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao has delivered several iconic films that are widely regarded as being ahead of their time, earning him a reputation as one of Indian cinema’s most visionary filmmakers.

Some of his most celebrated works include Kamal Haasan starrers Apoorva Sagodharargal and Michael Madana Kama Rajan, as well as the silent classic Pushpaka Vimana. He is also credited with directing Telugu cinema’s first time-travel film, Aditya 369, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role.

SSR’s previous directorial venture was Welcome Obama (2013), an official remake of the Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy!, directed by Samruoddhi Porey.
