Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran was released in 2023 and turned out to be a successful venture for the actor, even hinting at the possibility of a sequel. Now, it appears that work on the sequel may have already begun, with production likely to commence in 2028.
Is Sivakarthikeyan’s Maaveeran 2 on the cards?
According to online buzz shared by Movies Singapore, Maaveeran 2, starring Sivakarthikeyan, is currently in the writing stage. Reportedly, the Parasakthi actor is keen on the sequel, and the film is expected to go on the floors in 2028. However, this remains a rumor for now, as the makers have not made any official announcement.
Moreover, director Madonne Ashwin is also said to have narrated a one-line story to Karthi. For now, it remains to be seen what the filmmaker's next project will be.
Maaveeran is an action thriller with superhero elements directed by Madonne Ashwin. The film follows Sathya, a comic book artist who writes and illustrates the adventures of a brave warrior named Maaveeran for a Tamil newspaper.
A coward in real life, Sathya avoids confronting injustice. However, after a fateful fall from the terrace of his apartment complex, he begins hearing a mysterious voice from above narrating his life, much like the story in his comic strip.
What follows is an action-packed tale of rivalry between Sathya and the corrupt politician Jeyakodi, who has wronged him and his community.
Alongside SK in the lead role, the film also stars Aditi Shankar, Saritha, Mysskin, Monisha Blessy, Yogi Babu, Sunil, and several others in pivotal roles. The film is available to stream on Prime Video.
Sivakarthikeyan’s work front
Sivakarthikeyan was last seen in the lead role in Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara. Featuring Ravi Mohan as the primary antagonist, the action drama also stars Sreeleela and Atharvaa Murali in key roles.
Looking ahead, the actor will next headline the action entertainer Seyon, directed by Sivakumar Murugesan. The upcoming film, co-produced by Kamal Haasan under the banner of Raaj Kamal Films International, features Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead. The makers have also recently confirmed that Kannada actor Raj B Shetty will play a pivotal role.
As per reports, the film is likely to hit the big screens during the Pongal festival next year.
