We are back with our weekly edition of 'South Newsmakers Of The Week.' Though it was a dull week, a lot of movie releases managed to keep the social media buzzing. Drishyam 2 to Tamil film Chakra and a few other films released this week. Also, Tollywood star Vijay Deverakonda, who is in Mumbai for Liger's shoot, grabbed all the eyeballs over his party photos with Karan Johar, Sara Ali Khan and others. Vijay Deverakonda party photos: On Saturday night, Vijay Deverakonda was seen partying with Kiara Advani, filmmaker Karan Johar, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, Kiara Advani, Puri Jagannadh, Charmee Kaur and others. Post the party, Vijay and Sara were all smiles for the paps as they stepped out.

Drishyam 2: Mohanlal starrer Drishyam 2, the much-awaited sequel returned after 7 years and it opened to a phenomenal response from the audience and critics alike. The recently released Malayalam mystery is directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor through the company Aashirvad Cinemas. The film stars Meena in the female lead role.

Thala Ajith's statement: After a few fans demanded an update for the upcoming film Valimai during PM Modi's recent Chennai visit, in an official statement, Ajith said that it made him upset to see his fans asking for updates about the film in public places. He requested them to act dignified. He also noted that people watch movies for entertainment whereas it was his profession. Fans held placards and asked for the film's update, which left Ajith upset. Later, Boney Kapoor also tweeted saying, “Wanakam. Humbled by your love towards our film “Valimai”. Bear with us as we work on presenting the First look soon. It’s in the best interests of the film. #Valimai #ValimaiUpdate #AjithKumar”. 

Late Chiranjeevi Sarja's son launches trailer: Chiranjeevi Sarja's 5 months old son launched trailer of his upcoming film, Rajamaarthanda. Meghana held Jr Chiru on her lap, held his little finger to launch the trailer of the film. Take a look. 

Uppena Box Office: Newcomers Vaishnav Tej and Krithi Shetty starrer Uppena released on February 12 and the film managed to touch Rs 50 crore mark within 7 days of its release. . Directed by Buchi Babu Sanu, Uppena also features Vijay Sethupathi in a pivotal role. 

Tamil actor Indrakumar dies by suicide: Tamil television actor Indrakumar reportedly ended his life on February 19, 2021, in Perambalur. According to the reports, the South actor hung himself at a friend’s place. The reason why behind Indrakumar took such a drastic step is still unknown. He is survived by his wife and a young child.
