Suriya is currently working on his upcoming film Suriya47, directed by Jithu Madhavan. With filming expected to wrap up by June 2026, will the movie be part of the same cinematic universe as Fahadh Faasil's Aavesham? Co-star Naslen appears to have clarified the matter.

Is Suriya’s Suriya47 connected to Aavesham?

Speaking with Club FM, Suriya47 actor Naslen revealed that the movie has no connection to Fahadh Faasil's Aavesham. During the promotions for Mollywood Times, the actor stated that filming is expected to be completed by the end of June. However, unlike Jithu Madhavan's previous films, Suriya47 will not be set in Bengaluru and will not be connected to either Aavesham or Romancham in any way.

Suriya47 is an upcoming action-comedy film that reportedly features Suriya as an eccentric police officer leading a team of equally quirky individuals. Their lives are turned upside down when they are assigned a new task. Alongside Naslen in a pivotal role, the movie will also star Nazriya Nazim Fahadh as the female lead.

Suriya and Naslen’s work front

Suriya was last seen in the lead role in Karuppu. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film follows a father and daughter who travel to Chennai so that the latter can undergo surgery. However, while spending the night at a railway station, the duo is robbed of the gold they intended to sell to cover the medical expenses.

Although the gold is eventually recovered, they are forced to confront obstacles led by Baby Kannan. Desperate for help, the father prays to the guardian deity Karuppusamy, who takes human form to help them and reform the system. The film concludes with an epilogue hinting at a sequel titled Karuppu vs Vellai.

Apart from Suriya, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Indrans, Anagha Maya Ravi, Natarajan Subramaniam, Swasika, and Sshivada in key roles.

Ahead of Suriya47, the actor is set to star in Vishwanath And Sons, which is slated for a theatrical release on August 14, 2026.

Naslen, on the other hand, is set to headline Mollywood Times, directed by Abhinav Sundar Nayak. The coming-of-age comedy-drama follows a young man who dreams of becoming the greatest horror filmmaker in Malayalam cinema, inspired by M. Night Shyamalan. The story explores the challenges he faces and the lengths he goes to in pursuit of that dream.

With Sharaf U Dheen appearing as the co-lead, the film is scheduled to hit the big screens on June 5, 2026.
