Suriya47: Will Suriya starrer feature Mohanlal in a cameo role? Director Jithu Madhavan reveals
Suriya47 is the upcoming cop action comedy starring Suriya in the lead role, co-starring with Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and Naslen.
Suriya is currently working on his next film, tentatively titled Suriya47. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the upcoming movie was recently rumored to feature Mohanlal in a cameo role and include a vintage song from one of his films in an action sequence. Now, the Aavesham director has addressed the speculation.
Will Mohanlal appear in a cameo for Suriya47?
In a recent media interaction, as quoted by Dinamalar, Jithu Madhavan denied Mohanlal’s involvement in the project. The filmmaker said, “We haven't even released a poster from the film. No, Lalettan is not part of the film.”
When asked whether a song from an older Mohanlal film would be used for an action sequence, the director chose not to comment. He further added, “We still have some shooting left for the film. More updates will come at the right time.”
Suriya47 is an upcoming action-comedy that reportedly features Suriya as an eccentric police officer leading a team of equally quirky individuals. Their lives are turned upside down when they are assigned a new mission. Alongside Naslen in a pivotal role, the film will also star Nazriya Nazim Fahadh as the female lead.
Earlier, Naslen revealed that filming was expected to be completed by the end of June 2026. The movie was initially expected to hit theaters later this year. However, recent reports suggest that its release could be pushed to Pongal 2027, although no official confirmation has been made so far.
Suriya’s work front
Suriya was last seen in the lead role in Karuppu. Directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy action drama also stars Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Indrans, Anagha Maya Ravi, Natarajan Subramaniam, Swasika, and Sshivada in key roles. The film is available for streaming on Prime Video.
Looking ahead, the actor is set to headline Vishwanath And Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. Co-starring Mamitha Baiju, the film is scheduled for release on August 14, 2026. Apart from the main duo, the movie also has Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in key roles.
The makers recently unveiled the film’s first single, Pattamboochi. Composed by GV Prakash Kumar, the track was sung by Subhalashini.
