Suriya has officially announced his 48th movie as a lead, reuniting with Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel.
Suriya is basking in the success of Karuppu and is gearing up for the release of Vishwanath and Sons. Now, the actor has announced his 48th film as a lead, directed by TJ Gnanavel and bankrolled by KGF makers Hombale Films.

Taking to their official social media handles, the makers announced their collaboration with Suriya through a special note. Sharing the update, the team wrote, "He built it. Frame by frame. Film by film. Fight by fight. Roles that bled truth. Characters that carried the weight of real lives. A journey defined by courage, conviction, and craft. Three decades of truth on screen. Countless hearts touched beyond it. Now, the most fearless actor of his generation steps onto his grandest stage yet. Hombale Films proudly welcomes THE ONE & only, Suriya."
The film's official pooja ceremony was held in Chennai on June 29, 2026, and was attended by the cast and core crew.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film will feature Dragon actress Kayadu Lohar as the female lead. After Karuppu, composer Sai Abhyankkar reunites with Suriya for this project, while SR Kathir and Philomin Raj will handle the cinematography and editing, respectively.
Reports suggest that the film may be inspired by the real-life story of the Rs 5 Doctor. However, the makers have not officially confirmed the speculation.
Suriya’s work front
Suriya was last seen in the lead role in Karuppu. Directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy action drama also stars Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Indrans, Anagha Maya Ravi, Natarajan Subramaniam, Swasika, and Sshivada in key roles. The film is currently streaming on Prime Video.
Up next, the actor will headline Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. Co-starring Mamitha Baiju, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on August 14, 2026. Besides the lead pair, the cast also includes Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in prominent roles. Recently, composer GV Prakash Kumar confirmed that Suriya has sung a dance track for the film, with lyrics penned by Youth fame Ken Karunaas.
Apart from these projects, Suriya also has the tentatively titled Suriya47 in the pipeline. Directed by Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan, the film also stars Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and Naslen in pivotal roles.
