Thalapathy Vijay’s Bigil was one of the most anticipated movies of the year and it opened to a thunderous response at the box office on October 25. In fact, it had taken the ticket windows by a storm not in India but across the world and has raked in over Rs. 200 crores worldwide. It seems that a lack of strong competition turned beneficial for this Atlee directorial. But as Bigil is going strong in most of the areas, it has seen a significant decline in its collection in Chennai.

According to media reports, the theatres in Chennai is witnessing a poor turnout of people for Bigil. In fact, a popular theatre, i.e. Devi Paradise in the city had even cancelled the show of the movie owing to poor turnout. To note, a movie is considered ideal for screening if there are at least 30 people to watch it. However, on 31st October, the audience turnout for Bigil at this popular theatre was less than 30 following which the theatre owners were forced to cancel the show. In fact, the audience who came to watch the movie later was referred to another theatre Devi.

This isn’t all. Both theatre officials also announced that while Bigil will be screened there in the evening the night shows will again witness a major change given the audience turnout. Meanwhile, Bigil is enjoying a dream run in Tamil Nadu and has minted over Rs. 100 crore within a week of its release. And with no competition in the coming weeks, the movie is expected to do a stupendous business there.
