Thalapathy Vijay is celebrating his 52nd birthday on June 22, 2026, marking his first birthday celebration after retiring from active cinema. Director Atlee took to social media to pen a short birthday wish for him.

Taking to his social media handle, Atlee wrote, “Happy birthday, Anna (brother),” and shared a candid picture from the past. In the photo, both were dressed in black outfits as the filmmaker embraced the superstar.

Apart from Atlee, several fans have also taken to social media to pay tribute to the actor on his special day.
Earlier, Thalapathy Vijay and director Atlee collaborated on three different projects. Their first film together was the 2016 action drama Theri. The movie follows the story of a bakery owner who is believed to be a former police officer living a quiet life while facing challenges from his past. Co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson, the film was a massive success.
Following this, Vijay and Atlee teamed up for Mersal. The action thriller revolves around Maaran, a respected doctor who charges his patients modest fees while also leading a parallel life as a magician determined to expose unethical practices in the medical sector. As the story unfolds, details about his past come to light. Featuring SJ Suryah in a pivotal role, the film also starred Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha, and Nithya Menen as the female leads.
Later, the actor and director joined forces for the third time with the sports action drama Bigil.
Thalapathy Vijay and Atlee’s work front
Thalapathy Vijay is yet to make his final big-screen appearance with Jana Nayagan. Directed by H. Vinoth, the action drama features Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, and Pooja Hegde in key roles. The film was initially scheduled for a Pongal 2026 release but was later postponed.
Meanwhile, Atlee is currently working on Raaka, starring Allu Arjun in the lead role. The big-budget entertainer also features Deepika Padukone, while Sai Abhyankkar serves as the music composer.
Although further details about the film have not yet been revealed, the first-look poster showcased Allu Arjun in a striking, larger-than-life avatar.
