VenkyAnil5: Is Venkatesh Daggubati, Kalyan Ram’s film a remake of Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil? Keerthy Suresh clarifies

Venkatesh Daggubati and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram are set to share the screen in the tentatively titled VenkyAnil5 (also referred to as NKRAR2), marking their reunion with director Anil Ravipudi.

Earlier speculation suggested that the film might be a remake of Prithviraj Sukumaran's Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil. However, actress Keerthy Suresh has now addressed the rumors.

Is VenkyAnil5 a remake of Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil?

An Instagram page named Simply Mollywood shared a post claiming that VenkyAnil5 was a remake of Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil. Responding in the comments section of the same post, Keerthy Suresh clarified that the upcoming film is not a remake of the Malayalam comedy-drama.

For those unaware, Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil is a 2024 comedy-drama that follows Vinu, who is preparing for an arranged marriage with Anjali. Things take an unexpected turn when he forms a close friendship with his prospective brother-in-law, Anandan, only to discover that Anandan's estranged wife is Vinu's former girlfriend, leading to a series of humorous complications before the wedding.

The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph in the lead roles, alongside Anaswara Rajan and Nikhila Vimal. Directed by Vipin Das, it is available to stream on JioHotstar.

VenkyAnil5 was officially announced recently, with Venkatesh Daggubati and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram playing the lead roles. Keerthy Suresh and Krithi Shetty have been cast as the female leads, while GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music and background score. The film is currently targeting a Sankranti 2027 theatrical release.

Previously, Venkatesh starred in Sankranthiki Vasthunam, directed by Anil Ravipudi. The film also featured Aishwarya Rajesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary in prominent roles, alongside Srinivasa Reddy, Sai Kumar, Upendra Limaye, Raghu Babu, Naresh, and others in supporting roles.

Venkatesh also made a special appearance in Anil Ravipudi's latest blockbuster, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, headlined by Chiranjeevi.

Meanwhile, the upcoming film marks Anil Ravipudi's second collaboration with Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. The duo previously worked together on Ravipudi's directorial debut, Pataas (2015).

Venkatesh Daggubati’s work front

Venkatesh Daggubati will next be seen in the lead role in Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 - AK47. Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, the film is touted to be a family thriller drama, with Srinidhi Shetty and Nara Rohit playing co-leads. The film is slated to release on October 2, 2026.
