Suriya and director Venky Atluri have joined hands for the first time with the upcoming movie, Vishwanath and Sons. Directed by Venky Atluri, the film was initially expected to release in July 2026, but it seems the movie might get pushed a bit further.

Vishwanath and Sons Release Date

According to a report by Aakashavaani, Suriya’s Vishwanath and Sons is expected to release for Independence Day 2026 week. Initially, the movie was supposed to hit the big screens in July, just 2 months after Karuppu was released. However, now it seems the movie might skip ahead once again, but this is just a report for now and no official confirmation has been made by the makers.

For those unaware, Vishwanath and Sons follows the story of Sanjay Vishwanath, a 40-year-old former international pistol-shooting champion attempting a comeback despite failing eyesight. The narrative centers on his complex relationship with a vibrant woman 20 years his junior, Maddy, who falls in love with him, creating emotional conflict.

Directed by Venky Atluri, the film features Mamitha Baiju as the co-lead, alongside Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in key roles.

Suriya’s work front

Suriya is next set to appear in a lead role for the movie Karuppu, slated to release on May 14, 2026. The film is set in a world consumed by chaos, where fear, injustice, and suffering have become part of everyday life. Amid this turmoil, a mysterious man emerges as an unlikely superhero. As he confronts personal struggles and harsh realities, he gradually discovers his true strength and purpose.

Apart from Suriya, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan and RJ Balaji in co-lead roles, alongside Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles.

Looking ahead, the actor has also begun work on a cop action-comedy tentatively titled Suriya47. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film stars Nazriya Nazim as the female lead, with Naslen playing a key role. With Sushin Shyam handling the musical tracks and scores, the movie is expected to have a sequel with another star headlining it.
