When Thalapathy Vijay spoke about career choice of son Jason Sanjay who recently skipped his father's big day
Thalapathy Vijay recently celebrated a big milestone in his professional career. However, his kids, son Jason Sanjay and daughter Divya Saasha, were absent from the event.
Thalapathy Vijay is all over social media for multiple reasons. On May 10, 2026, the superstar celebrated a monumental day. However, the celebrations raised eyebrows when fans didn’t spot his children, son Jason Sanjay and daughter Divya Saasha in the front row. The aspiring filmmaker’s missing presence brought back a flood of memories and reminded us of the time when Vijay spoke about his son’s independence and career choices.
When Thalapathy Vijay spoke about his son’s career
As Thalapathy Vijay took center stage for his recent milestone, the front row felt noticeably empty. His estranged wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, and his kids, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha, were absent from the event. The absence of Jason, in particular, has raised eyebrows, given that the young creator is currently carving out his own niche in the film industry.
Back in 2022, during Beast film’s promotion, Vijay told director Nelson Dilipkumar in an interview for Sun TV that he had given his son full liberty to choose what he wanted to pursue in the future. Many speculated that Jason would follow in the footsteps of his dad and become an actor, but he had other plans.
Vijay told that he doesn’t have a clue what's on his mind. He further divulged that he had never pressured his son into acting and would never do that.
“It is completely his interest. If he feels he needs my support, I will support him. They have full freedom to choose. I don't command them, saying they have to do this or that,” the Leo actor expressed.
Vijay also shared that filmmakers approached him for his son's debut. “I tell him people are asking, but at the end of the day, it is his choice. He told me, 'Please don't disturb me for a couple of years. I don't want this right now,’” Thalapathy had said.
For the unversed, Jason pursued a Film Production Diploma in Toronto and a screenwriting degree in London. He has been busy working on his highly anticipated directorial debut, Sigma, under the Lyca Productions banner, starring Sundeep Kishan. This comes at a time when Sangeetha reportedly filed for divorce from Vijay after 27 years of marriage.
