Sri Lanka and West Indies face each other in a dead-rubber in the World Cup 2019 on Monday. West Indies are already out of the competition, and though Sri Lanka are not officially out yet, chances of them making the top four are slim.

The two sides, then, will play without the baggage of qualifying, which should help them play with freedom.

The Windies team have looked inconsistent in the edition, but one cannot deny that the side has some of the biggest match-winners and stroke-makers. Players like Chris Gayle, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran along with Carlos Brathwaite and Jason Holder have all gotten starts, but have failed to capitalize with a big knock.. Gayle, in particular, who is playing in his last World Cup, will be eager to fire. He plays a breathtaking innings at least once in every edition of any tournament, and though he has two fifties thus far, a big knock still evades. Against an inconsistent bowling side, he could just smash it all out of the park.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have inconsistent batters with their bowling lacking the punch as well. Coupled with Windies' superior batting depth and their bowling prowess, it is the West Indies who are the favourites.
