West Indies got so close to a win yet again, but ended up on the losing side, as they went own by 23 runs to Sri Lanka in their World Cup 2019 encounter.

Their problems started with the toss, when they asked Sri Lanka to bat first on a flat track. The Asian team scored 338 runs in their 50 overs, and the target was deemed a stiff one. With West Indies collapsing to 84 for 4, and with Chris Gayle and Shimron Hetmyer back in the pavilion, a huge loss was on the cards, but NIcholas Pooran's mature batting took them close. 118 runs off only 103 balls ignited hopes of a win, but his dismissal in the 48th over ended their chances.

West Indies and Sri Lanka are both out of the World Cup, and were playing for pride. While the Lankans registered their third win, West Indies have just one win thus far.

This is how Twitter reacted.
