The 39th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will see Sri Lanka lock horns with West Indies on Monday. West Indies are out of contention for a place in the semis but Sri Lanka are mathematically alive in this tournament. They need to win both their games against West Indies and India and hope for favorable results from other games. They are currently placed at seventh position in the points table with six points from seven games. Their only bright spot was the unexpected victory against England. Otherwise, they have failed to play the brand of cricket they were once known for. Barring a few match-winning performances from their veterans they have had a tournament to forget.

West Indies, after starting the tournament with a bang against Pakistan have faded away due to some inconsistent performances both with the bat and ball. The island nation are currently placed just above Afghanistan at number nine. They would hope that their batters led by Chris Gayle play sensibly and help them win some games to end the tournament on a high and save themselves from further embarrassment.
