The Tale of the Nine-Tailed is set to premiere this week. The fantasy tale sees Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum play gumiho aka foxes in the show. Meanwhile, Jo Bo Ah plays the fearless producing director in the series. While the trailers and posters have given us a glimpse of the show, the director of the fantasy drama shared his first impression of the leading trio recently. As reported by Soompi, Kang Shin Hyo began with Lee Dong Wook and said that the director saw the leading character in him the moment they met.

"When I first met Lee Dong Wook, it felt like I was meeting the real Yi Yeon," he said. Speaking about Kim Bum, he said, "Kim Bum has a sharp face with shadows that hide behind it, so I felt like he was a perfect fit for Yi Rang." The director gushed about both the actors and said that he envisions no one else to play the role better than the two stars. As for Jo Bo Ah, the series helmer deemed her princess-like. "When I met Jo Bo Ah, I realized that even though she looks like a princess, she has an easygoing, tough personality," he said.

Kang Shin Hyo also shed light on the intriguing storyline and said that he wanted to experiment with the concept of a Korean superhero. "In these times, audiences of all ages love superhero stories. I thought about how to make a Korean superhero story, and I came up with the idea of the gumiho as the central character. I worked with writer Han Woo Ri to develop a drama with a gumiho motif," he explained. The director feels that the series is a class apart from other shows owing to the fact that the gumiho are male living in the modern age, and waiting for a long-lost love.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed premieres on October 7. Are you excited about the series? Let us know in the comments below.
