The stories of dacoits like Phoolan Devi, Paan Singh Tomar, Man Singh and Nirbhay Singh Gujjar are still household tales in the area of Chambal. Many films have been made on the land of Chambal, and now, we have one more compelling tale - Sonchiriya. The film stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana. After sharing the first look poster, the makers of the dacoit drama have now released the teaser of the film, and well, it does look convincing. Set in the 1970s, Sonchiriya revolves around the dacoits of the Chambal valley.

The teaser opens with the strong voice-over by Manoj, and in the background, you see a village that has been taken over by the dacoits. The very first scene of the teaser sets the very foundation of the movie. The teaser has glimpses of all the characters. SushantManoj and Ranvir are shown as realistic as it can be and the language used in the teaser adds to the realistic quotient even more. Not many films have been shot in Chambal, interestingly Sonchiriya has been shot at the real locations.

All the characters are unrecognizable in the teaser. “Abhishek is a master at creating characters and has crafted iconic protagonists through his films (Ishqiya, Dedh Ishqiya, and Udta Punjab). My look is a stroke of genius. It was his vision that created a character who exudes vulnerability and yet is strong, gritty and bold. Working with Abhishek and Sushant has been one of my most fulfilling creative collaborations,” Bhumi had earlier said in an interview.

The film also marks the first collaboration between Bhumi and Sushant. Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, and presented by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP moviesSonchiriya is slated for a February 2019 release.
