A disappointed Virat Kohli took to Twitter and penned an emotional post after India's loss in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019. Chasing 240 for a win, the Men in Blue fell short by 18 runs, as New Zealand qualified for the finals for the second successive time. It left the Indian fans, and Kohli himself, dejected.

The skipper, in a tweet, said that the team was gutted and that they shared the emotions with their fans. He also thanked them for supporting them in large numbers, and went on to add that he had given it his all in the World Cup.

"Firstly I want to thank all our fans who came in huge numbers to support the team. You made it a memorable tournament for all of us & we definitely felt the love showered upon the team. We are all disappointed & share the same emotions as you. We gave everything we had. Jai hind," Kohli tweeted.

Earlier, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar had also tweeted about his disappointment, but had praised the fighting spirit that the side had shown in the competition, and also against the Kiwis.

"A good fight put up by @imjadeja & @msdhoni but @BLACKCAPS were exceptional today. Congrats to NZ on making it to the Finals & all the best for the same. I felt #KaneWilliamson's captaincy & composure played a crucial role in this result," Tendulkar wrote.

The team will have a few weeks off, before they fly down to West Indies to play ODIs, T20Is and Tests.
