Were Cha Eun Woo’s scenes from The WONDERfools cut down after personal controversy? Director reveals
Cha Eun Woo is currently serving in the military and is set to be discharged on January 27, 2027.
Cha Eun Woo will make his acting return in the upcoming superhero action comedy adventure drama series The WONDERfools alongside Park Eun Bin in the lead role. This will be his first show release following his military enlistment late last year and was expected to make it big on the OTT platform, but a personal controversy involving his tax submissions has caused strain on his appearance. With little promotion around the release, worries arose about the possible deletion of scenes starring the 29-year-old. However, the director shut down any such speculations.
Cha Eun Woo’s scenes remain intact in upcoming drama
The show runner was asked about any possibility of having edited out or reduced Cha Eun Woo’s scenes due to his personal life. Answering the burning question, director Yoo Insik said, “I first learned about the issue through reports when the editing and post-production process was already nearly complete. This project has been a long-time dream for me, and every single person involved worked incredibly hard, even for a one-second shot. We approached post-production with the overall quality and completion of the drama as our top priority.”
He ended further curiosity about his opinion on Cha Eun Woo’s controversy and added, “I ask for your understanding that I cannot comment in detail on personal issues.”
Korean singer and actor Cha Eun Woo is famed for his unrivaled looks and charm. Following his debut as a member of the K-pop boy group ASTRO, he took to acting in various K-dramas and became a famed name with his participation in shows like Gangnam Beauty, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung, and True Beauty. He was last seen in the film The First Ride.
The WONDERfools will be released on Netflix on May 15, 2026.
