West Indies vs Bangladesh Highlights, World Cup 2019: Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das hand Bangladesh an iconic win
Bangladesh on Monday created history by chasing down 322 runs against West Indies at Taunton. The Bangla Tigers completely dominated the chase, finishing the match well within 41.3 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Earlier, after West Indies posted a comprehensive total of 321 runs on board, Bangladesh made an average start. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar saw off the new ball and struck bad balls to the boundary. Though Sarkar was removed before he could settle down. However, as soon as Shakib Al Hasan walked to bat, Bangladesh looked in quite a controlling position.
He formed a good stand with Tamim before Cottrell left Bangladesh clueless by a superb run-out of Tamim. The Men in Green were yet to settle down with this blow, Oshane Thomas sent back Mushfiqur Rahim as well, putting the pressure back on Bangladesh.
However, Liton Das made sure to provide support to Shakib who was timing the ball beautifully. The duo tremendously guided the innings. Shakib struck a scintillating 100 while Liton changed his gears and started going after Windies bowlers. Finally, Bangladesh crossed the line with more than 8 overs in hand. Shakib made 99-ball 124 and Liton finished with 94 runs in 69 to pull off one of the most iconic World Cup chases.
With these two points, Bangladesh moved to fifth place in the points table having five points in as many games.
